According to the Daily Mail’s live transfer blog (January 3, 3:35pm), Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Portsmouth forward Jamal Lowe during the January transfer window, and the 24-year-old’s arrival at The City Ground could spell the end for Gil Dias.
What’s the word, then?
Well, The Daily Mail’s live transfer blog say that the Reds, along with Championship rivals Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion, are all interested in the attacker, who has been in fine form for the League One table-toppers this term.
Lowe only made the step up to the Football League with Pompey in January 2017 having played in the Non-League prior to that, but he has made a huge impact at Fratton Park since and has been one of the main reasons why they are flying so high during the current campaign after scoring 11 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.
The report adds that the south coast outfit already rejected offers of £800,000 for the in-form man during the summer transfer window, and they are now braced for bids approaching £2m this month.
What would his arrival at Forest mean?
Reports in Portugal already suggest that Benfica are ready to recall winger Diogo Goncalves from his loan spell with Aitor Karanka’s men given his lack of game time this term, and the potential arrival of Lowe could also see another loanee in Dias sent back.
The 22-year-old joined the Reds on a season-long loan deal from Monaco in the summer, and while he made an impressive start to life at The City Ground he has struggled in more recent times, and played a prominent part in the recent collapse against leaders Norwich City – which didn’t go down well with Forest fans on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Lowe is able to play on either flank and given his performances for Portsmouth this season, he would be a much more effective player for Forest in their bid for promotion than Dias is.
