It’s impossible to not marvel at Jamie Vardy’s career. From becoming the first non-league footballer to be sold for over £1m, to winning a Premier League title with Leicester City, the striker’s path has been absolutely incredible.Aged 32, he doesn’t look like slowing down yet as he netted his fourth and fifth league goals of the season on Sunday against Newcastle United.Watch the likes of Harry Kane, Virgil van Dijk and Neymar react to their FIFA 20 ratings in the video below…These strikes were Vardy’s 84th and 85th goals in England’s top-flight, meaning that he has now scored more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo in the Premier League in fewer games. This incredible stat forced Ben Chilwell to take to Twitter in order to make a huge claim about his teammate.
Chilwell called Vardy one of the best, and said that he deserves more credit.
We can only assume he’s saying he’s one of the best goalscorers in Premier League history considering he has now bested aÂfive-time Ballon d’Or winner, and it’s really hard to disagree with the left-back on this matter.
Vardy consistently hits 15+ goals a season, and he was Leicester’s top scorer the year they won the Premier League. On top of that, he holds the record for the most consecutive Premier League games with a goal.
Is it time to recognise Vardy as a true Premier League great? There’s certainly a case to be made, and if he fires Leicester into the top four this season there can be no doubts about it whatsoever.
