Veteran centre-back Michael Dawson put in an imperious display in the Reds’ Carabao Cup win over Stoke, and the question now will be whether he can displace Michael Hefele or Danny Fox in Aitor Karanka’s starting XI for the trip to Blackburn in the Championship.
Against Stoke, Forest went 3-0 up within the first hour after goals from Ben Osborn, Daryl Murphy and Joe Lolley. However, summer signing Benik Afobe pulled one back for Stoke before Forest’s Benfica loanee Diogo Goncalves was sent off for a studs-up tackle.

This put the home side on the back foot at the City Ground and Saido Berahino bundled in another to make it 3-2. However, the 6ft 2in tall Dawson then stepped up and cleared almost every ball that came into the Forest box to see Karanka’s side into the fourth round of the competition, and he should be rewarded with a start against Blackburn.
The 34-year-old began his career with Forest before leaving for Tottenham in 2005. After leaving Hull this summer though he rejoined the Reds and was seriously impressive against Stoke.
So, Forest fans, do you think Dawson should start against Blackburn on the weekend? Have your say by voting in the poll below.
