Tottenham regained bragging rights over Arsenal as they knocked their bitter rivals out of the Carabao Cup and simultaneously confirmed their place in the semi-final, courtesy of an outrageous goal from Dele Alli, who was man of the match.
The 22-year-old controlled Harry Kane’s lobbed ball wonderfully before deftly finishing beyond an immobilised Bernd Leno to double his side’s lead and, after an Arsenal fan threw a bottle at him, rubbed salt in the wound by taunting the Emirates faithful with a ‘2-0’ hand gesture.
Meanwhile, after Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday morning, reports have surfaced that Manchester United are looking to replace newly-appointed caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino in the summer.
